Tiger Spotlight
of the Week:
Mrs. Jen Anderson
Music/Visual and Performing Arts Teacher
1) Why did you become a teacher? I was really inspired by how rapidly and resiliently kids can learn even in the face of adversity. Now, I find their excitement and creativity make great motivators.
2) What are your hobbies and interests outside of work? Camping, baking, songwriting, reading, trail running.
3) A fun fact about yourself or unique talent you possess, if any? A surprising fact, I was recruited by the CIA at 16, and by the FBI at 30. A VAPA fun fact: Once upon a time, I got to sing and dance, “Anything You Can Do (I Can Do Better)” with Dick Van Dyke.
4) Favorite book, movie, or music (pick only one to share) and why it is your favorite? To this day, I’m still in awe of Ray Bradbury, and how he wrote Fahrenheit 451.
5) Favorite part, so far, about working at Durham Elementary School? The community involvement, and seeing all the rewarding educational field trips our students get to experience.
