Welcome or Welcome Back to DES, Home of the Tigers
We are eagerly anticipating the arrival of all of our students on the first day of school, Wednesday, August 17th, 2022. You will receive district notification soon about creating a parent portal and
completing all the required Back-to-School paperwork in the portal for
your child. The portal will allow you to see your student's assigned
classroom and teacher on Monday, August 15th after 4:00 PM.
Parents who have created their portal and completed the necessary
paperwork online will receive a welcome letter and classroom supply list
from their child's teacher via email on Tuesday, August 16th. School hours will remain the same from 8:15 AM-1:40 PM on Mondays and 8:15 AM-2:40 PM Tuesday-Friday. Breakfast (7:45-8:10 AM) and lunch will continue to be no cost for all students this year.
Drop off and Pick up will remain the same. TK
and Kindergarten will be in the bus circle in front of the school;
first grade will be on the high school side parking lot near the K/1
playground; second and third grade will be on Durham-Dayton Highway;
and, fourth and fifth grade will be in the high school parking lot in
front of the cafeteria (please exit out the back).
We welcome all
parents who want to volunteer (a COVID vaccination card will be
required on file in the office or a negative COVID test). Continuing to
build our school community and ensuring all students' educational needs
are met are our top priorities.
Some Important Upcoming Dates at DES:
- Tuesday, August 9th and Wednesday, August 10th is Kindergarten Round-Up. Parents with Kindergarten students should have received a sign-up link to schedule their child's Round-Up appointment. If you have not received your link, please contact the DES office at (530) 895-4695.
- Wednesday, August 17th is the First Day of School beginning at 8:15 AM.
- Monday, August 22nd is our first Early Out Monday (This is every Monday). Dismissal for K-5th is 1:40 PM. TK dismissal remains at 11:30 AM.
- Wednesday, August 24th is Back-to-School Night from 6:00-7:00 PM. Teachers in Grades K-2 will present from 6:00-6:30 PM, and grades 3-5 will present from 6:30-7:00 PM.
- Tuesday, August 30th and Wednesday, August 31st are Minimum Days for Parent-Teacher Interviews. Students K-5 will get out at 12:20 PM. Teachers will have you sign up for a time slot.
Please have your child bring a backpack to school everyday. We are looking forward to a great school year!
