The Durham Trojans Varsity Men’s Ski and Men’s Snowboard teams both competed at the CNISSF State Championships held at Mt. Shasta Ski Park from March 3rd through 7th. There were 387 qualifying athletes from 32 schools competing in Slalom and Giant Slalom events.

In Men’s Ski, Durham had two top 20 finishers in Slalom in a field of 105 athletes. Our team finished 8th in Slalom, and 12th in Giant Slalom. Walker Martin’s 15th place finish and Ryley Vanella’s 16th place finish were separated by only 5/100ths of a second.

In Men’s Snowboard, Marcus Montgomery finished 2nd in Giant Slalom and 5th in Slalom. The team finished 11th in Giant Slalom. The official Slalom team rankings have not been released yet. Marcus’ combined scores put him in 4th place overall. This is Marcus’s second consecutive year as an All-State (top 10) Snowboard athlete.

Durham can be extremely proud of its Trojan skiers and snowboarders. As a relatively new team from a small valley school, we have surprised many of our competitors. Just as important, coaches from other schools comment frequently on how jealous they are of the character, responsibility, and decency of Durham’s athletes.Picture of the DHS Boy's Ski Team, Division Champs 2024.Picture of DHS All State Snowboarder Marcus.
